Ama Gyamfuah Abrefa served as a member of the Board of Directors of the Ghana National Petroleum Company (GNPC) and the Ghana Enterprise Agency (GEA), two ,critical growth poles for the rapid development of Ghana between 2020 and 2024. At GNPC, Ama used her vast experience in investment and finance law to assist the Board in making sound decisions in furtherance of Ghana’s strategic interest in the management of the oil found within the territorial borders of the country.
At the GEA, she was highly involved in raising capital and procuring support for entrepreneurs through structured engagements with the Mastercard Foundation and other international fund agencies in an unprecedented drive to finance entrepreneurship. Both GNPC and GEA singled her out for praise due to her work ethic and commitment to finding solutions to all challenges.
Ama Gyamfuah Abrefa has been a Solicitor and Barrister on the roll of the Supreme Court of Ghana since 2007 and is a member of both the Ghana Bar Association and the International Bar Association.
Her expertise has been honed over the years through a Master of Laws (LL.M.) degree from Queen Mary University in London specialising in financial Securities and Derivates. She also studied at the Massachusetts Institute of Technology (MIT)’s Sloan School of Management and Oxford University gaining extensive knowledge in Leading Digital Innovations and Managing Mining and Oil and Gas for National Development.
Reflecting her passion for football, Ama Gyamfuah Abrefa is a Board Member of Play Soccer, a nonprofit organisation that uses sport to empower children and youth in underserved communities. She actually volunteers as a mentor during activities throughout the year. Ama also boasts some electrifying dance moves but she must be compelled by family and friends before she hits the dance floor. She will not easily move but when she does, she is the ‘Dancing Queen’.
